Evolutionary Landscape
For this Grant Park project, we redesigned the clients’ backyard to transform their weedy, uninspired beds into a cohesive landscape that fit their needs. We utilized the environmentally friendly technique of sheet mulching which implements cardboard rather than landscape fabric to suppress weeds.

Backyard: we added slate chips to the walkway to prevent further erosion, placed a boulder, and planted low maintenance plants.

Backyard Walkway: We turned a sea of dyed mulch into a permanent slate chip walkway, lined with boulders and planted low maintenance plants with year round interest. We then chose a natural oak mulch as the top dressing. Boulders and Japanese maples are one of our favorite combinations that have worked beautifully in landscapes for centuries.

Side yard: We transformed this weedy, plant free bed into a weed free place of beauty.
